Gallows - Grey Britain Gallows

Frank Carter, Laurent Barnard, Stuart Gili-Ross, Steph Carter, and Lee Barratt.

Followed their explosive debut Orchestra Of Wolves with the sophomore knockout Grey Britain, released 2nd May 2009.

Widely regarded as one of the great British heavy records of the century, Grey Britain is a relentlessly bleak concept album; a snapshot of a country falling apart: fractured, broke, and politically rotten.

Produced by Garth "GGGarth" Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Biffy Clyro) and mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Slayer), the record fuses vicious hardcore, thrash, and dark symphonic weight. The 2026 remaster brings new clarity to the wall of sound. From the crushing riffs of "London Is The Reason" and "I Dread The Night," to the rollercoaster swings of "The Vulture (Acts I & II)" and "Misery."

Grey Britain plays like the soundtrack to a nation's collapse. It's also the sound of a band levelling up — field recordings from the River Thames, piano tracked at Abbey Road, and a 33-piece orchestra recorded at AIR Studios. Guest spots include Biffy Clyro's Simon Neil on "Graves," plus backing vocals from Cancer Bats and Rolo Tomassi.

Remastered for the first time ever, by Matt Colton at Metropolis Studios, Grey Britain hits harder than ever. Available on 1CD, black vinyl 2LP, plus indie-exclusive Red & Black Marble and Red & Black Inkplosion 2LPs
